Demolition machines and work tools

Demolishing existing structures and preparing sites for future projects is tough work. It requires the right equipment to get the job done efficiently and profitably – equipment like our CAT® 330B L and 345B L Series II Ultra-high Demolition Excavators. They are purpose-built to maximize stability and performance – and have long reaches: 68' 11" (21 m) high on the 330B L, and 83' 8" (25.5 m) on the 345B L Series II.

Hitting the Ground Running

CAT® equipment and customer service enhance demolition contractor's success

In the world of demolition, access often becomes a challenge. That's why The Linda Construction Co. Inc. relies on the compact size of its CAT® equipment to get the work done. Based in Charlotte, N.C., the company performs selective and total demolition.

"On a recent job," says Gary Olnowich, Vice President, "we had to demolish an interior portion of a two-story building. It was a land-locked job, with the only access being a six-footwide pathway. Larger machines wouldn't have been able to get in there, but our CAT 242B and 262B Skid Steer Loaders were able to get in and out easily.

As a result, The Linda Construction Co. Inc. was able to complete the project efficiently and productively - adding to its bottom-line profit.

The efficiency of CAT Skid Steer Loaders also helps the company take on more work. "We typically have about 15 projects underway at any given time," he says, "We do a lot of one- to two-week jobs where we're in and out quickly. Our operators love the speed and power of our CAT Skid Steer Loaders.

Customer service

"We're not a big company," Olnowich says, "but our CAT Dealer treats us as though we were. Our CAT Dealer was very helpful to us in selecting the right size and model machines for our applications. We told them what we were looking for and they came to us with recommendations.

"Because we work in various states, whenever we need something, all we have to do is call our CAT sales rep, tell him what we need, and he gets everything lined up for us. Instead of having to call five people, all we need to do is make one phone call. It allows us to hit the ground running, and that's something we really appreciate.

"In addition to the customer service, the quality of CAT equipment is fantastic. The resale value of CAT equipment is also much higher. You can place CAT machines alongside other brands and it's obvious that CAT equipment offers so much more. This includes the engine, as well as the overall structure. Across the board, you can't beat Caterpillar machines," Olnowich says.

Rugged & Reliable

"Because we work in the demolition industry, we're rough on equipment," says Gary Olnowich, Vice President, The Linda Construction Co. Inc., Charlotte, N.C. That's one reason why its CAT 242B and 262B Skid Steer Loaders are equipped with Extreme Duty Solid – Flexport™ tires. The tires eliminate flats, even in the harshest conditions, while the innovative design absorbs shocks and a deep tread provides excellent traction.

Other features that help the 242B and 262B excel in demolition applications include:

  • Drive axles that are forged and induction hardened for maximum life. They include a unique lip and outer seal to help prevent demolition debris, such as wire and twine, from wrapping around the axle and destroying the seal.
  • Heavy-duty main frame, lift arms, loader linkage and other structural components engineered for years of dependable use in extreme applications.
  • The Caterpillar hystat power train delivers aggressive performance and easy operation. CAT 242B and 262B Skid Steer Loaders feature rugged, reliable, four-cylinder CAT engines that provide aggressive performance and a fast torque curve for quick response.

No matter what your application, you'll find CAT Skid Steer Loaders are more than able to handle the task.
