Peterson Machinery Co., the authorized Caterpillar dealership for central and southern Oregon, is pleased to announce a number of significant promotions at the company’s Medford location.

Darren Hoie has been promoted to service manager and will be responsible for service operations at the facility, reporting to Tim Murphy, Store Manager. Hoie has 13 years of experience with Caterpillar dealerships. He began as a shop technician trainee and moved to night-shift foreman, day-shift foreman, and then truck shop supervisor. 

Fred Rapp is the new service supervisor at the store. Rapp has been with Caterpillar dealerships in Portland and Medford since 1995 before joining Peterson Machinery in 2003, and holds an A.S. degree in auto diesel repair from UTI. His previous positions include shop technician and quality control inspector.

Dale Sundell has been promoted to main shop foreman. Sundell began his professional career at 18, working on heavy equipment for various companies in San Diego and Los Angeles including McCoy Construction, Carver Corp., McKnight Construction, and Altfillish Construction. He has spent the last 14 years in Medford with the previous Cat dealership and with Peterson Machinery beginning in 2003. 

Earlier in 2007, Tim Murphy was appointed Medford store manager. Murphy began his career with Peterson in 1979 with the dealership’s sister organization, Peterson Tractor Co. in northern California, working as a journeyman partsman, product support service representative, and product support manager. “We’re really pleased to have Tim at the Medford facility,” says Peterson Machinery Co. President Jeff Goggin. “Our Medford store is a key operation for us, and Tim’s leadership is taking the location to even greater levels of performance and profitability.”
